This event is not part of ACC.19, as planned by its Program Committee, and does not qualify for continuing medical education (CME), continuing nursing education (CNE) or continuing education (CE) credit.

This program is geared toward the interventionalist seeking to increase their knowledge on the evaluation and comprehensive management of complex and higher-risk patients indicated for coronary revascularization (due to symptoms or prognosis). Emphasizing a case-based presentation format with audience interactivity, participants learn how to assess and plan indicated procedures from clinical decision-making, regarding when/how to perform revascularization, and including discussions on access through post-procedural care. Specific issues regarding the treatment of complex lesions will be addressed with attention to the treatment of calcified lesions, bifurcation disease, chronic total occlusions, in-stent restenosis, and coronary artery disease in the post-CABG setting. In addition, the optimal use of adjunctive tools such as imaging, physiology, atherectomy, and hemodynamic support will be addressed. The use of hands-on training will further enhance the learning experience. Expert faculty will offer insights into selecting patients and devices, optimizing technique, and overcoming difficult anatomy.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Elucidate a conceptual framework for assessing the indications for coronary revascularization in higher-risk patients.
  • Learn new techniques and develop further knowledge of device selection in managing patients with complex coronary artery disease.
  • Discuss the different case scenarios in which specific, advanced techniques will provide an adequate risk/benefit ratio for patients.

This educational activity is designed for interventional cardiologists, clinical cardiologists, and other healthcare professionals involved in the management of complex and high-risk patients with coronary artery disease.

Evaluation by questionnaire will address content, presentation effectiveness, possible bias, and future educational needs.
